A pine nut processing factory is under construction in the eastern province of Paktia in Afghanistan.
The factory has the capacity of processing more than 50,000 tons of pine nut a year and will create hundreds of jobs, and will provide the ground for improvement in the export of pine nuts to international markets. Afghanistan produces about 20,000 metric tons of pine nut a year, especially in the east of the country.
