Pisciculture growing in Afghanistan

Pisciculture has increased considerably in the eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, where one of the first fishery farms was established in 1967 with the help of the Government of China.

Currently there are about 150 fish farms in Dara-i-Noor, Goshta, Behsud, Kama and Khewa districts of Nangarhar province. Local farmers ask the Afghan Government to support them in establishing a seeds farm in the province, as currently their import of fish seeds from Pakistan is becoming problematic due to the political tensions between the two countries.
