Four marble processing plants were inaugurated in recent days in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan

Four marble processing plants worth USD 6mn were officially inaugurated in recent days in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
According to the province’s officials, the processing plants are built in Sheikh Mesri industrial park in Surkhrod district of Nangarhar province. The processing plants generate employment opportunities to hundreds of Afghans with each processing plant employing 150 workers. Up until now marbles from Afghanistan were sent to Pakistan for processing due to lack of facilities. “These processing plants will prevent smuggling of marbles and have enabled us to process our marbles inside our country,” said Governor Salim Khan Kunduzi. Meanwhile, industrialists in Nangarhar province urged the government to provide them with lands and resolve their electricity problems in order to help boost investment in the province.
