New fruit orchards campaign launched in five provinces of north Afghanistan

The National Horticulture and Livestock Program (NHLP) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has launched a campaign to plant new fruit orchards on 2,000 acres of land in 5 northern provinces. NHLP Manager Fahim Jabari in northern zone of the country says the orchards would also receive proper irrigation system. He added they have also constructed 350 water reservoirs, and that they plan also to provide about one thousand water tankers for irrigation of orchards to the farmers which were being trained on growing techniques of orchards as part of the project. The farmers got satisfied with their orchards and the training has helped them to learn new techniques for orchards such as landscaping, fixing distances between rows and plants of orchards and using properly chemical fertilizer.
