Launched construction works of new fruit market in Kandahar Province of Afghanistan

Construction works on a fruit market have been launched in Kandahar by a Joint Venture between the municipality and traders. The fruit market is being constructed over a 7,5 acres of land in Kandahar City at a cost of about USD 8,2 million. Traders would contribute 70% to the total cost, and the Municipality of Kandahar at 30%. The new market would enable orchard owners to sell their fruits in-time and export to other countries from the same venue. Fruit traders said they faced problems in packing and storing fresh fruits, but these problems will get resolved with the construction of the new market, which would standardize their trade.
