Buddhist era relics discovered in Afghanistan

Eight small Buddhist stupas as well as fortifications, walls and 176 other artifacts have been found in Kabul's Shewaki site, Afghanistan.  A team of nine archeologists came to the scene two years ago and so far they have completed 50 percent of their excavation. Another 80 experts are contributing to the renovation work at the historical site.

Businesses urge joint efforts to boost trade between Pakistan & Afghanistan

Traders from Pakistan and Afghanistan have urged Islamabad and Kabul to set aside the political differences and make joint efforts to boost bilateral and transit trade between the two neighbouring countries. They urged the government of Pakistan to devise a separate policy or mechanism for Afghan traders to pave the way to get them registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and other authorities so they will contribute their share in Pakistan's economy. An ancient metalworks township has been discovered in Afghanistan

An ancient metalworks township has been discovered in the Mes Aynak area in Logar province, 40 km southeast of Kabul, Afghanistan.  The township that has been discovered belongs to the Buddhist era, dating back from between the 2nd and 7th century CE.  The archaeologists said the township also contains historical assets from the Bronze Age that date back to anywhere between 3,300 BCE to 1,200 BCE.

Afghan Government to build industrial parks in 10 provinces

The Afghan Ministry of Industries and Commerce plans to establish ten industrial parks in ten provinces of Afghanistan this year. Fawad Ahmadi, spokesperson to the Ministry, said preliminary work on these industrial parks has already kicked off in some of the provinces. In an interview with Radio Kilid, Ahmadi said an industrial park in Fayez Abad, Badakhshan has been designed and approved by a join delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Information and Culture, Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Ministry of Finance, and Environment Protection Agency. Afghanistan’s economy is expected to rebound to 3.0% in 2021

Afghanistan’s economy is expected to rebound to 3.0% in 2021, rising to 4.0% in 2022 as business activity and market sentiment normalize, according to ADB’s flagship economic flagship publication, Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2021.  To improve business environment, Afghanistan should facilitate the access of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to markets  by developing infrastructure, simplifying regulation, strengthening property rights and contract enforcement, fighting corruption , improving security, promoting innovation , increasing access to credit and expanding the formal bank sector.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister urges Biden Administration to stick to Afghan troop withdrawal

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said his country has hopes for greater engagement with the new U.S. Government and called on Joe Biden to follow up on the ongoing Afghan peace process and American troops withdrawal from Afghanistan. “I think they [Joe Biden Administration] should realise there is an opportunity in Afghanistan and they should persevere with what was initiated and not reverse things,” the Foreign Minister said.

Investing in Afghanistan Pine Nuts processing industry

A pine nut processing factory is under construction in the eastern province of Paktia in Afghanistan.  The factory has the capacity of processing more than 50,000 tons of pine nut a year and will create hundreds of jobs, and will provide the ground for improvement in the export of pine nuts to international markets. Afghanistan produces about 20,000 metric tons of pine nut a year, especially in the east of the country.
