Almond production has increased 4 times over the last year in northern Samangan Province of Afghanistan

The total yield of almond is estimated at nearly 2,000 tons in 2016, compared with 500 tons of the last year.

Samangan province produces various kinds of almond such as Starbayee, Khairudini, Maroji, Shakorbayee, Qambari, Sangak and Sandoqi.

The most appreciated is Starbayee almond which brought over 100 million AFN in revenue to the farmers last year. About 40% of Samangan almond production is sold inside Afghanistan, and the rest get exported to Pakistan, United Arab Emirates and India.
