UNESCO launches six new big projects in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will launch six key cultural projects in the central Province of Bamyan in Afghanistan.

The local government media office said that the projects will be launched in the next Afghan calendar year, and include construction of a cultural center, the strengthening of Buddhas' porticos located in the west, and reconstruction of the historic Gholghola City (City of Screams).

UNESCO’s representative in Afghanistan, Masanori Nagaoka, informed about launching the six projects during a meeting with the Governor of Bamyan, Tahir Zahir.
